Encore! Kids: Peter and the Wolf
Welcome to Peter and the Wolf!
This year’s virtual edition is open to ALL public, private, charter schools as well as and home schoolers!
See more details here.
I’m the Conductor of the Carolina Philharmonic, and I invite you to discover the magic of the symphony orchestra. On Monday, April 26, 2021 at 1pm, we will gather together virtually for a live streamed performance from the Bradshaw Performing Arts Center – students from across Moore County and the musicians of the Carolina Philharmonic – to make music together. View the Live Stream directly from this page by clicking on the video image above. The orchestra will also tell the magical story of Peter and the Wolf. It will be awesome! As you prepare to sing, clap, and even dance with the orchestra, you’ll realize how much the sounds of the symphony orchestra already form a key part of how you experience music and art, as well as your favorite movies.
Before the concert day arrives, you’ll prepare with your music and art teachers. This is an adventure and a challenge for all of us, and I look forward to meeting you at the finish line!

May 1, 2018: Encore! Kids Concert at R.E. Lee Auditorium
Results from 2018 Encore! Kids Art Contest
During last Encore! Kids concert on May 1, 2018, students were asked to paint pictures in their imaginations of the characters and scenes from "Peter and the Wolf" as they listened and then later draw a picture of one of the characters or scenes from the story, or from the larger concert, whether with a pen/pencil/crayons/watercolor/paint, and on the same sheet of paper write what song or part of the concert they liked best, and if possible, why.
A few Carolina Philharmonic volunteers assisted in the selection of the top three art pieces for each participating schools (see below), and three most outstanding and heartwarming pieces among all schools.
We congratulate and appreciate all students and teachers for participating!
